My tip: keep it simple with bud vases, clusters of blooms, bridesmaid bouquets, and easy-to-create arrangements. But Here’s My Honest Advice…

I Don’t Think the Bride Should Be the One Doing the Flowers. Seriously. Take it from me. Flowers are beautiful. Wedding flowers are exciting.

But they are also a lot of work.

How Do the Flowers Arrive?

Your flowers will arrive just as I would receive them myself—fresh from the supplier and packed securely in their original flower boxes.

That means your flowers won’t arrive already arranged, processed, or ready to place straight onto your tables. This is the hands-on work, part of where you save on the cost of full-service florals.

When your flowers arrive, you and your flower crew will need to:

Day 1: (2-6 hours)

  • Remove the flowers from their packaging

  • Remove any plastic, sleeves, or wrapping

  • Trim the stems

  • Remove any leaves or foliage that will sit below the water line

  • Place the flowers into clean water

  • Allow them time to hydrate and open

  • Organize and prepare the flowers for arranging

Day 2-3: (2-5 hours)

  • Work on items that can remain in water (reception centre pieces, bud vases, etc

  • Create items over 2 days, easy things first

This is exactly the type of behind-the-scenes processing that I would normally handle as your florist.

Wait… Why Is a Florist Promoting DIY Wedding Flowers?

Because I’m going to be honest with you: full-service wedding florals are a luxury service. When you hire a florist to do everything for you, you’re not just paying for flowers. You’re paying for the years of experience behind the design, the sourcing, ordering, processing, conditioning, transportation, staffing, delivery, setup, installation, and countless hours that happen behind the scenes.

And not every bride has the budget—or wants—to spend that much on flowers. So instead of saying, “If you can’t afford full-service florals, you can’t work with me,” I wanted to create another option.

The DIY Bride Bundle allows you to have my professional guidance, my eye for design, and help creating a cohesive floral vision—without paying for me to physically install every flower on your wedding day.

You get to choose where you save.

And in this case?

You save on the labour.

FAQ

Can I DIY It All?

No, and you will thank me later. It takes experience to execute items such as the ceremony arch and elaborate head tables. As a florist I still have a duty to lead you to utter success.

Can I hire you for anything?

Depending to availability. Let me know asap if you would like to hire me for items beyond the arch or head table.

If we are struggling, can we call you for assistance?

You will be equipped with videos and email support the weeks leading up to your wedding. Bulk wedding flowers is a large undertaking, and I advice you to have many friends and family on board. Unfortunately due to the fact I will most likely have another full floral service wedding that weekend, I will only be available over email for questions and will not come on site to assist. This is why its important to consider the amount of work this will take before deciding this course of action.

Can I change my mind later and hire you to execute my wish list items?

Subject to availability. I only take on one full floral service wedding a weekend. If you inquire and don't specify you need help, and try to add it later after another couple has secured the weekend- I will not be available to hire.

What Do I Recommend?

DIY your bouquets, bud vases, greenery head table, bar arrangements, the small stuff. Keep it simple and hire me for those larger installations and abundant centre pieces.

Do I Need A Cooler/ Fridge?

Generally- They will be okay without a fridge. I recommend starting your flowers 2-3 days prior to your wedding (depending on the size). This gives the perfect amount of time for flowers to open to their peak without wilting. Highly recommend to execute this process in a cool basement or garage. If you have a spare fridge for delicates (even your family kitchen fridge) this is a bonus!
